This is a poster advertising a talk about the reversing of generational patterns. It developed in a class with Hank Richardson called Logos, Symbols and Metaphors. The idea came from the book The Medium is the Massage by Marshall McLuhan where he talked about the raising of children.
Along that line, I imagined what kind of world in which I would like to raise my son—how I want his life to be different than mine and the hard work it takes to slowly about face and raise him differently than I was raised. To reflect that, I chose to display a grandfather's silhouette dark and facing to the left against a messy and muddled background. Two progressively younger and brighter silhouettes are facing in the opposite direction reflecting the transition of the younger generations.
