The Reverse Proof Gold American Buffalo newsletter is for the month of November 2013 for the company that I work for. They title their 'series' of newletters as Collector Advisory Volume #. The newsletters are for mailing list recipitents and clients who purchase precious metals and coins through this company.
The purpose of each newsletter is to educate, or advise, the client on a special edition of coinage, or a particualr group of coins. Inside each newsletter are insights on market values, background history, and knowledgable facts about that particular coin or group of coins. Through out this company's print/advertising history, modern aged coins are associated with colors such as a dark blue, white, and dark red. Older coins are associated with black and/or a metalic black as the dominate color.
With much of this company's advertising work that I have been doing, I tend to keep a golden gradient accent line throughout the covers of each newsletter. The coins are normally shown large enough to view the metalic detail of the coin, as requested by the owner. Detail plays a large role in this company's advertising requirements. The company wants the clients to be able to have a "visual feel" of the product. The company looks for details in advertising, such as shadowing, gradients, coin reflections, etc.
Due to the specific targeted category of clients, the newletter font and body text must be clear enough to be read easily. The text pages should be simple and magazine-like. The front cover should resemble a magazine with a clear message of what subject the newsletter will be informing clients about.
