Taking my love of today’stechnology, I have studied Renaissance paintings by The Old Masters tojuxtapose the old with the new. Ihave been influenced by their dark atmospheric paintings and opulent colourpalettes to create lavish, rich floral designs to be used within textiles. By exploring todays technology I have learned how to manipulate myfloral imagery in a way which allows me to recreate atmospheric designs whichreference the drama of the renaissance painters.
This project looks at the old andthe new, visualizing a modern way of presenting floral textiles by using thetechnology we have today in the 21 st centaury.
I have taken on the design challengeto reinvent the floral image we see so much of today. Instead of “modernising”floral prints like so many have done already, I wanted to use modern techniqueswith a classical twist.
