I was commissioned to create this customised sign for a live music venue - hence the speakers. The neon is an existing Red Bull promotional item which I built upon.
I acquired and disassembled (sometimes just smashed) a car load of old speaker boxes. I was reluctant to weld the speakers to the neon sign; glass + gas + heat seemed like a bad idea. The speakers are instead attached via a chaotic lattice of metal rods, nuts, bolts and epoxy.
