Red Bull Canvas Cooler Project 2013
Singapore

The Red Bull Canvas Cooler Project is an initiative that gathers selected artists to design mini coolers that will eventually be permanently displayed at various nightspots and bars around Singapore.

The cooler that I have designed will be displayed at Cafe Siem Reap- a buddhist themed decor restaurant and bar, of the IndoChine bar chain.

This work seeks to express the expectations of society and the lengths faces (representations of people) go to in order to feel a part of our social circle. Society expects us to smile, and therefore we pull those false grins. How many of us truly smile from the heart? Or do we smile only when the camera urges us to; when the crowd encourages us to?

The human ego is a curious one. One that, being gregarious in nature, seeks to adhere, comply, and confine itself to its comfort zone. Yet, it knows that its true purpose is to break out of that conformity, so as to surely be of greatness.
