This was a fun conceptual awareness project regarding recycling. For this project I collaborated with my friend, Marli McKellar.
To create awareness on a conceptual level we decided to chose the game: Risk. Games are fun ways to integrate people and create awareness regarding an issue in a fun and interesting way. For this we recycled cardboard boxes to build a huge 6m x 4m board of the world for the players to play on. It is based on the same idea as big chess boards found in community spaces for people to engage with. Along with the board of the world, we created three dice and made use of different sizes and kinds of bottles for the characters to be played with. We had big and small bottles that counted points.
On the day we encouraged the participating players to make three teams of two and to dress up in an army theme. The bottle we used for the project was also mainly bottles that we asked the players to bring to already create awareness regarding recycling.
We made a stop frame video to demonstrate how the game was played.
