Recent painting from the last year.

 

I am still experimenting with different methods for making oil paintings.  These are some paintings that I made over the past year, and each one was made in a slightly different way. Some of the paintings where made with acrylic and oils, some have handmade oil grounds, some of them have an under painting, some do not, etc. My goal has been to maintain a high archival quality, but to also find a method that expresses my personal aesthetics. I still have some tinkering to do, but I feel like I am understanding the materials better and getting closer to my own personal vision. I had a teacher in college that said “Painting is more important than art.” Which to me means, working is more important than the product.
