Product Design, Information Design
Helping to make a wiser purchase, having an impact on the consumer's mind, and beginning a more durable relationship with products.
Based on the "made in" label inside the garment (that we don't notice), this project informs about the origin of the product in a more visible and tangible way. Red country shapes displayed on a garment look like blood splatters, using this impact to raise awareness.
Ownership feeling starts when you cut the label off; so at this stage, the label adds a message. The label is designed to be pulled. When pulled, it leaves a ring around the finger (saying "I do"). It's like making a pledge, you decide to commit to own this.
Second hand shops gain to be more noticeable, promoting carbon reduction awareness through ethical purchases. Acting as a signal, the label would influence the consumer in buying the clothes coming from the furthest place, it appeals to its sense of responsibilities (taking care of an orphaned product).
As consumers are demanding more information on the origin of their clothing, raising awareness in these shops is a strategic way to move market shares and to indirectly tackle the problem in High Street shops.
