Every day, New Zealanders choose to express their views, and listen to their interests and priorities in hundreds of ways. Every day, radio New Zealand captures and reflects some of those voices in programmes that contribute towards our collective understanding, enable debate, inform, stimulate, and keep us appraised of what is going on in the country and the world around us. SOUNDS WE KNOW. SOUNDS LIKE US. Di was the Senior Designer who was assigned to work on the Radio New Zealand business along with Bruce Hamilton the Creative Director of Clemenger Design. An annual report is always a great way to reflect on what has been happening in the year just past. The fact was Radio New Zealand had been doing a lot of reflecting on who they were and what they looked like through the process of rebranding that year. Because they are a public service broadcaster they reflect and capture the many voices of New Zealand. Radio New Zealand gives our culture a voice. Who we are as a broadcaster reflects who we are as a nation. The mirror on the cover expressing the idea that you and me are part of what makes Radio New Zealand unique. The large portrait images helped convey the many voices Radio New Zealand capture and reflect, their listeners, and also symbolized the personalities of their five business units. The portraits were dramatically split in half to continue the reflection theme, the reflection of what they would look like in sound. The five business units featured as part of the finale of the annual report introduction, clearly minimizing the past confusion of what business units made up the great New Zealand’s asset. The report was used as a great tool to help launch the new brand alongside an advertising campaign by Clemenger BBDO.
