REAP (Pt. 1) mini-zine

REAP Pt. 1, a mini zine of small sketchbook drawings that I made for AI and Comic Arts Brooklyn this year.

I made REAP as a part of an ongoing project based on the many personal stories from my Khmer family members who grew up in Cambodia, both pre and post-war. The images in this zine were based on some of my mother’s stories about growing up in the rural province of Siem Reap, prior to being forced to flee the country in 1975. This project has been an interesting exploration in how family culture and history has also shaped my aesthetic and visual vocabulary, and what it means to be Asian American in a country that largely overlooks talking about Cambodia and its history.
