RAMLA tree surround

RAMLA tree surround
The RAMLA tree surround is RAMLA tree surround is used to mark out tree plantation areas in paved zones. It consists of two pieces of concrete laid at pavement level. Its original ramp section at both ends allows rainwater to enter and exit freely, while also facilitating sweeping and cleaning around the tree. Architects Jaume Artigues and Pere Cabrera designed RAMLA as an original natural stone product for the Raval streambed in Barcelona, aimed at optimising tree surround maintenance with a self-clearance effect in a Mediterranean climate where torrential rains rains are not uncommon, hence the name of this surround, taken from the Arab word RAMLA, wich means "watercourse"
