R I D E was an art exhibition that focused on art inspired by alternative (non-car) forms of transport and the subcultures that form around them. Skateboarding, fixed wheel bikes, roller skating, lowrider bikes and even buses and trains were represented by artists who like to muse on these subjects.
I created a gallery-grade skate ramp to showcase the work of Apache Skateboards artist and founder, Douglas Miles. I chose oak because it just gives a whole different feel to what people are used to seeing. There is also a viewers platform which gave spectators a firsthand look at a perspective only ramp riders are usually able to see. Have a look for yourself...
