Publisher Bar Landing Page: User Testing

Improving the User Experience

What it was
The landing page for publishers investigating the Meebo bar is a tricky problem for user-centered design. Not only are we trying to serve two distinct audiences - large premium publishers vs. small sites and blogs - the bar is also a significantly more complex product than most website widgets and can be hard to grasp immediately.

We got a lot of clarification about what the different types of publishers were looking for at a participatory design session in January and used those results to begin prototyping and testing an improved version of the page with the actual needs of the target users in mind.

My Role
I was responsible for designing and running the testing sessions as well as summarizing and socializing the results. The prototypes were created by one of our interaction designers with input from myself as well as the product manager.

The first session was in-person, while the second session was remote, and included premium publishers as well as bloggers.
