Promoting Malaysia

  • Promoting Malaysia
A paper craft project on culture and delicacies of Malaysia
  • For my major project, I have decided to do something on promoting my very own country, Malaysia. I challenge myself to use only flat surfaced papers, to create something pop up and 3D with self made textures. Choosing the right colors and the compositions, as well as the lighting are crucial for giving the right depth and shadows to the paper crafts.

The outcomes are two paper craft posters, one for culture whereas one for delicacies of Malaysia. The posters are also suitable for an interactive website page in Malaysia's Tourism Board where viewers can click on the imagery to obtain more information regarding on it.
  • I. Delicacies of Malaysia

Malaysian cuisine reflects the multicultural aspects of Malaysia. Various ethnic groups in Malaysia have their own dishes, but many dishes in Malaysia are derived from multiple ethnic influences. There are a variety of foods in malaysia. It all came from different nations, but together into one. The culinary fare of Malaysia originates from a diverse historical heritage. Influence from the Indonesian, Thai, Arabic, and Chinese cooking styles have created culinary legacies that are both distinct and exotic.
  • II. Culture of Malaysia

Cultures have been meeting and mixing in Malaysia since the very beginning of its history. Within Malaysian society there is a Malay culture, a Chinese culture, an Indian culture, a Eurasian culture, along with the cultures of the indigenous groups of the peninsula and north Borneo. A unified Malaysian culture is something only emerging in the country. From musical instruments to that of traditional games, each culture has its own traditional and religious beliefs all of which are adapted to local influences and condition.
