I've always had a fascination with nature's ability to gobble back what we have taken away. Sometimes this is accomplished purely on natures terms and sometimes we help it along.....The Salton Sea is the largest inland body of water in California, and quite toxic according to recent studies. In fact, it's only getting worse. Once a romantic getaway for tourists, it boomed in the1950s and was often described as “the American Riviera”. Unfortunately, water rights battles with San Diego and Los Angeles have left it with nothing but years of polluted runoff from agricultural and industrial sites. Thus creating what will surely become a tragic example of humanities ability to ruin that which surrounds us.
