The aim of this project was to create a labeling system for home made preserves.
How often do you look in the fridge and not know what all the home made preserves are?
I wanted to create a very visual outcome - hence the lack of written information.
While the writing specifies the type of the preserve, the flavour is shown through the pictograms.
The patterns inside the pictograms represents the nutritional value in the form of Rdi.
Shown, are the most commonly checked RDI's - salt, sugar, protein, energy and fat.
The largest pictogram represents 10% of your RDI to give the reader something to measure against.
The back of the jars has a key on it - still very visual and generative - but simple enough to follow.
I printed out the labels to size and made the product.
I also created 3D digital renders of them as I couldn't get the jars I wanted.
I originally designed the labels to go on shorter hexagonal jars as shown in the renders.
Would you use these in your kitchen?
I created the patterns for these labels using python/processing coding (jycessing).
