Portraits & Landscapes

What I draw when I think about drawing
With the recent shift in focus of my work from fictional characters to a more varied subject matter has come a little more concentration on defining an image using the bare minimum of linework and more emphasis on construction using colour and convergence.

The landscapes are based on public domain photographs, as is the James Clerk Maxwell image. This is an exercise in clarity, in which some have succeeded better than others. Public domain images tend to be fairly low quality and as such, the details aren't as defined as they would be with a modern day DSLR. As such, the source images have already gone some way towards distilling the image.

The front-facing portraits are made using shapes. No freehand at all. I concentrate mostly on exaggeration of features and symmetry to get the right effect.
