The "Twenty-First Century" project began as an in-class assignment for a beginning film photography class. It focused on both individuals who I knew intimately and who were complete strangers to me. I wanted those who I had a personal connection with to come across as comfortable, natural; neither forced or posed. The self portrait came as a result of something I overheard: "Even when I'm naked I feel like I'm wearing clothes because of my tattoos. The goal was to emphasize the natural beauty of the subjects in their environments. Contact sheets for the project have been included. All photos are scans of those shot with a 35mm Minolta film camera and developed by hand.
