  • Pop-UpShop
Live project brief Pop-up alternative retail experience
First Project made in Master in Communication Design in ESAD_matosinhos_Portugal_2010/11

The Pop-up experience is an emerging phenomenon in cities around the world. From gallery-like shopping spaces with one-off exhibitions, to restaurants, nightclubs and mobile shopping units; there is
an increase in temporary retail and event based manifestations around the world. These spaces tend to pop-up unannounced, often in interesting architectural locations. They offer exclusivity, innovation and an element of surprise that delight consumers.

    Project brief
Create a pop-up shop that offers an alternative retail experience. Think carefully about consumerism and challenge the conventional retail experience. Develop a strong concept for your pop up shop, a product and/or experience that you can then put into action. You have to design your proposed experience.

  • first sketch of the wheel

  • My project for the pop-up store, had different stages, but since beginning of the project i have thought about the wheel of fortune
as a hypothesis for my shop. I ended up choosing a wheel, like a wheel of fortune, because from the beginning, when susanna and andrew have proposed this work, and proposed a store with a character of interaction with the clients, I want my store to have the playful and fun effect as a means of interaction with the public and the clients.

  • Shelves to put the Product

  • To resolve the issue of product was a struggle, because after that i wanted to resolve the wheel of fortune as a shop,so i tried at all costs to find something that adapts to the wheel, and went without success trying to fit a lot of solutions to the wheel, but in the end would always be some inconvenience/inconvenient, or not "matched" or simply did not work well with the wheel, or was just crummy:)

As I think my shop is fun, i also wanted something that was fun or at least fantastic / beautiful, something that makes customers stop and want to spin the wheel to get the product, even though they had to spin it more than once.
So for this, i researched on premiums that are usually common in win-wheel of fortune, but it was difficult adjusting thath prizes to the low costs that my products would cost.
I thought the big checks, cars and trips that are usually found where there are television programs with wheels and I thought of a way to "reduce" these awards, and chose the "part" of travel, which is the most amazing to me,and i remembered my memories (souvenirs) and photographic postcards that people keep wanting to look always remember beautiful places where they've been or want to be, how I love 3d hand.made, i started thinking about "Postcards" 3D of with beautiful cities in the world, all made of paper and started drawing boxes and cities when i finished the first box I noticed that it was a little dark inside, and i decided to make a window, then for each city created a different window that had to do with their culture and architecture.
