The brief was all about solving a problem with a simple solution. I was asked to develop a visual campaign which reduces something and in turn benefits the society. In order to do so i was required to research a theme of reduction, meaning i had to find quotes that described reduction. Whilst searching i found a quote by Robert Orben, that really inspired and interested me " There's so much pollution in the air now, that if it weren't for our lungs there'd be no place to put it all". I never really thought about pollution, but I must say that quote made me think and realise that pollution is affecting us and it's only getting worse. With that in mind I went on a mission to create a campaign to fight against it.
Along my way I discovered that:
"Britain's filthy air kills 50 000 people a year"
"In towns and cities 70% pollution was caused by transport"
"Health cost of pollution is estimated to be £20.2 billion per year"
To me this was shocking, as i never imagined how much impact pollution would have on us, without us even realising! So i decided to use those facts in my campaign. The idea was to interest people by upscaling only the figures and leaving the rest of the quote smaller so that a passer-by would want to get close to find out what the numbers are all about.
