- The goal of this project is to experiment with wood-based materials to design an architectural enclosure that could accommodate at least one human being. The proposed design will take advantage of flexible properties of the material to generate an arch that will house the main space defined by the structure. The proposed type of wood is 1/2" plywood that will be light enough not to require any additional support structures.
The plywood will be cut into polygon shapes, each having sides of the same length, but a variable number of sides.
The plywood sheets will be joined on its edges by 3/8" size galvanized nuts and bolts. The tension on each bolt joint will influence the overall shape of the structure. For example, a small adjustment in each of the joints will produce a radical change in the overall structure.
