Pigment Opusculus is an exploration of the subtractive color model and printing process. The book contains twenty-eight collages created from photography, illustrations and text, which explore all possible color combinations that occur as the CMYK printing process is completed, color by color. To examine the interaction between the four colors, images are reduced to monotones, duotones or tritones. All four colors come together in the final images. By combining the images within a reduced color palette, the structural elements, patterns and textures of the images blend together to create entirely new graphics. The final piece is a 40-page book, accordion bound with a hard cover and soft fabric spine.
