Perspective: A Typographic Journey
Foreword from Book
How we view any situation in life depends on our perception. Perception is a way of regarding, understanding, or interpreting something. Changes in perspective can be juxtaposed as hope versus despair, light versus dark, or beauty versus ugliness. Just how situations can be perceived differently, travelers views of the same city can vary. A traveler may see a city of opportunity and promise but his companion may see a dark city of despair. Some people are able to see what is not there, what is hidden beneath the layers of the city.
This book is a journey through typographic experimentation as well as a written account of evolving perceptions. Just as a city can be perceived differently, a typographic design process evolves and changes throughout chapters. New principles are applied and graphic elements are moved or discarded to allow for space for new, evolved design. This book is a process and a journey through design and typography and a constant hope to search for what has not been seen before.
