Summary:
The project explores the redevelopment of MDM, or Marzałkowska Housing District, the monumental urban development constructed as a model of Stalinist planning and as an architectural showpiece for the soviet-backed communist regime. Into this the proposal inserts a series of performance scenarios that recompose existing material, cultural and spatial resources, colonising monumental structures, integrating socialist facades, sculptures and decorations as real sets/backdrops, and transforming the historic spaces into a shifting complex of sites for the performance of the contemporary city.
