A pastiche of Rodin's Thinker
Un pastiche du Penseur de Rodin
A pastiche of Rodin's Thinker, created in Dec. 2009 as my final project in a fine art class teached by Michael A. Robinson.
In french, The Thinker is Le Penseur. I transformed myself in a nun ("soeur" in french) and created a peacock tale ("paon" in french). When put together, you play phonetically with the words, going from "penseur" to "paon-soeur".
I wanted to put myself out there and explore new avenues in my creation path. Since my work is introspective, I thought it was interesting to be the actor in that oldies scene that also explore some views of canadian art (by the painting in the background and by the 50's setup).
The original piece that came out of my exploration is actually a photography. Over a hundred were taken. That's how I ended up doing stopmotion. The soundtrack refers to the religious views in Quebec over the 50's and 60’s VS the nun daydreaming wich refers to the young adults, in the 70's who made history change for new kinds of dreams.
Truely hope you enjoy it!
