Out of 1100 participants from throughout the whole world, I won the 2nd place prize for this very prestigious student design contest, organized by Penguin Random House in London, UK. After winning, my name received a lot of publicity and was mentioned by various design blogs & media.
The aim of my design is to represent the protagonist’s rebellious, rock ’n’ roll attitude towards life. Throughout the novel I noticed several major recurring motifs and decided to combine all into one by illustration. Inspired by the greaser culture of the 1950s but refracted through my own personal prism, my design borrows something from the past and presents it to its audience in a modern and youthful way.
