This illustration was created as a student piece for the brief 'contrast' with 50% of the work required to be done using the program Macromedia Freehand and 50% any other form we wished. The black silhouette characters were the portion created in Freehand with the paint splashes made using water colour and then layered in Photoshop. The black silhouette characters have a rigid shape outline style which contrasts the natural shapes from the colour splashes while the solid black portions obviously contrast the colours along with the white background. The two characters also contrast one another with one being the killer in a position of power and the other the victim who is down on their knees. The fact that the victim has rainbow coloured spatter suggests that dying would actually set them free or that their sole will continue to live on.
