Music. It transforms any situation; it's what builds up the right atmosphere in you favorite movie, what makes you do that one extra rep at the gym and what fills your morning commute with a well needed energy boost.
I myself love cooking to music. And what always fascinates me the most is when the music and food just fits perfectly. As if the sound waves and the flavors from the stove suddenly blends into one. There's a tune for any type of food and recipe; some Cuban jazz for the Chorizo paella you just slammed together or a good ol' rock song for that juicy steak you just barbecued to perfection.
The secret sauce, a special spice, call it whatever. For me music is what turns a good meal into a great meal.
It turns out I might not be the only one thinking like this. Google just released a research paper
that shows that the place where people use their tablets the most to listen to music is in the kitchen. The other big use for the tablet in the kitchen is less surprising; to find recipes.
So I decided to combine the two uses into one app.
An app that with the help of the SoundCloud API
and recipe APIs such as Punchfork
creates a fuse between music and food by finding songs matching your recipe of choice and then creating a custom playlist for you to enjoy while cooking your delicious food.
