“Design is thinking made visual.” Based on this quote, my idea is to explore the boundaries of traditional and digital media, and show that the two are both inseparable to the design and thinking process.
This is an animatic about a designer called Ed who faces a design problem and chooses to take a radically different approach. He goes through a change in role from a digital thinker to a traditional one – hence the title “Paradigm Shift”. The tree that erupts from a drop of ink from Ed’s fountain pen is symbolic of an idea developing and maturing into something far more spectacular than what he began with. The message that my animation is sending is that when you’re faced with a problem, try to take a completely different approach and you will be rewarded.
