(Il) legible city
(Il) legible city is about the phenomenon that our current cities are becoming more and more an accumulation of text and images. The result is that a lot of visual information doesn't communicate optimally but is being experienced as noise.
For this project, I did an intervention in the city of Brussels, where I stuck messages as labels on different sources of visual information (posters,..) in the city. They where meant as a sort of quality label and by putting a message on the 'invisible' information it became again visible in a way. In this paper - which was spread in the city centre - my intervention was documented but also a selection of the different labels. People where able to cut them out, copy them,... and hang them in the streets on different sorts of visual language. So people - the resident - had the opportunity to also have a say about how they experienced visual information in the city.
