I sourced lots of costumes from the  local Lyceum Theatre costume department  and started to paint my models in the styles I had always admired of the Victoria and Edwardian era. I was looking at Holbein and Whistlers portraits at this time was interested in their use of colour.

This interest in costume logically progressed to the Venetian style, especially the Masquerade masks which lend themselves easily to my love of the hidden portrait.
