- The jpeg grain on these photos is inexcusable. I must really learn to photograph my paintings properly, or find someone who can and pay them to do it.
That said, one of the Big Issues in my practice is the meta-physical nature of the image. These digital images still convey most of the the important visual information contained in the origitnal physical paintings. And after all, where does the image really exist? Painted onto a board, in the mind of the viewer, as a jpeg on my computer, some pixels on your screen or as a printed facsimilie?
(Protip: there's no wrong answer).
