i could never draw faces at college, and some may say I still can't. So I set myself an interesting challenge by doing a series of portrait studies of friends and family. The challenge, other than I don't usually do faces, was made harder by the fact that I chose to do them in Acrylic, a medium I had never used before, on canvass, again a new material for me, and large format. These are all done at 30 inch square.
The style of painting is inspired by the french artist Francoise Neilly, hence the surreal colours and broad palette knife work. I think I can firmly say they are work in progress.
