Crusty Manetti's
Gourmet Microwaveable Pizza
Chicago is known for great pizza, and I was thrilled to be asked to design packaging for Manetti's Pizza Company for the Illinois market. Given only the name and some clean product photography, I designed the logo, wrote copy, and created separate packages for each of four styles. Never having worked on food packaging prior to this project, it was fascinating learning about the rules and regulations required, and it made for a fun challenge. The photograph of "Crusty" on the back of the packages is of my grandfather, Carlo Pezzutti in the 1920's.
Back panel featuring "The Crusty Manetti Story", and the front panels for Pepperoni, Sausage, and Pizza Supreme. Because all of the products can be either microwaved or heated in a conventional oven, the pizzas were wrapped in cellophane and each box included a heating tray that kept the crust from becoming soggy.
