- INITIAL RATIONALETheme: Evolution of Music playing formats.Target Audience: Male and FemaleAge group: General publicRATIONALEThe main objective of this project is to make 3 postcards about the evolution of music players. Throughout the design of the postcard, I was careful to adhere to the principles and guidelines of a good design to make it visual expressive and engaging.Music players have evolved into different formats and media. There has been a transformation from a removable media to digital media which leads to the explosion of digital music into different audio formats that made players extremely portable and fashionable. Since I am a music enthusiast, I decided to illustrate the development of music formats into our current technology. I have used three different objects on each postcard to show how they evolved after 100 years.FIRST POSTCARD : GRAMOPHONEcommonly known as the phonograph or vinyl record. This was one of the successful playing formats during mid 1890’s.
- SECOND POSTCARD: CASSETTE TAPE
referred to as audio cassette and often used to a conventional audio cassette players.
- THIRD POSTCARD: Apple iPod
a popular portable digital device created by Apple Inc. It stores music, photo and other files by using built in hard drives.
Each of the music formats are placed into different postcard with a textured background. It all started with the gramophone which the three lines were coming up from its cylindrical speaker. Highlighting the parallel lines flowing into different direction represents how they have evolved in different formats. Moreover it also recalls that the music formats were all rooted from the original gramophone. Three horizontal lines were place accross the images up to the third postcard as it shows that music formats were continously growing. As you go accross the postcard and more arrows were visible on the third postcard. No text were visible since as i wanted to speak the image by itself to the target audience.
