Patient #1004

------

This short graphic story is the result of an illustration project at my school in Cph. The idea was to create an illustrated story as a handmade fold-out piece. The book is crafted as an original piece, so any small mistakes meant I had to adapt, and rethink the piece.

------

The story is about a guy commited to a mental hospital, whether he's crazy or just has a vivid imagination, is up to the viewer to decide. In the story the protagonist progressively loses his grip on reality as the facility keeps upping his dosage, which finally reduce his brain to a knotted lump of bad wires. The minimalistic cover adds to the grimey feel of the story but also represents a medical record. I experimented a lot with mixed materials doing this project. Analog style. Materials used: Pencil, ink, watercolor & oilpastels

The story is inspired by "One flew over the cuckoos nest" by Ken Kesey.
