About Candy
A film about hope, guilt, feeling powerless, sparks of optimism in sorrow, appreciation of life and the tireless perseverance of children.
Pieter (7) has found his way of dealing with his mothers being in the Intensive Care by trying to win everyone possibly responsible for his mothers well-being over by giving them candy. He also carries a feeling of guilt towards his mothers hospitalisation. The story tells about how Pieter deals with powerlessness and guilt and how he tries to reach his goal.

To give you an idea I included part of the screenplay:

Pieter (5 years) walks through the hospital hallway alone. He is dressed in a fancy suit, that is slightly to big for his body. He carries a big jar full of candy tightly in his arms. There is a Christmas tree in the distance. Pieters fancy shoes tic on the floor. Every time he takes a step an echo can be heard. He balances on his foot and only takes the next step when the echo fully disappears.

I hope this short will be a point of recognition for the many people who have experienced these feelings of powerlesness and guilt. The film however will be light toned, it will show the kids hope and his dexterity.
