Our Fancy Fences
An exploration of domestic Kitsch
The project was born as a research about the typological variety of single-family homes fencing in Italy, many of which date to 60's-70's, when there was the first big growth of suburbs. A selection of shots was on display during Fotografia Europea Festival 2012 in Reggio Emilia (Italy), whose yearly theme is "Living together - pictures for the community": the idea is to make the public aware of the ongoing weakening of community life and of dense town centers by showing the most symbolic element of private property - the fence - as it was the subject of a portrait, or a piece of art.
