The Danish company Ortofon is the world's largest producer of pick-ups for turntables. For almost a hundred years, the factory in Nakskov has produced audio equipment of world-class quality.
Ortofon came to Re-public asking for a digital platform aimed at the German market, for presentation and sale of various products. Instead of developing a traditional corporate website, Re-public has created a extensive DJ community, where DJs around the world can upload their own videos and mixes. The website fascilitates discussions, competitions and lets DJs challenge each others skills and techniques. Ortofon has embraced the concept, and have taken ownership of the music equipment market for the German DJ community.
The visual style is held simple and clean, giving focus to the artistic expression of the users. The understated design supports the fact that the website is intented as an open platform for the users, and not as a corporate website. Accordingly, Ortofon’s visual identity is represented only as a discrete sign off, and all product references, articles and reccomendations directs users to a seperate webshop.
