Orb Coffee Table

Furniture
In the days of horse drawn carts, metal rims were fitted over wooden cart wheels to prevent wear. They would fit the metal rims while they were still hot so that they would shrink onto the wood as they cooled and provide a tight fit. The summer heat would cause the wood to shrink. So, to prevent the rims coming loose, owners would drive their carts into rivers to cause the wood to swell back.
This table is a one-of-a-kind, combining the beauty of the aged metal cart wheel rim with yew legs, silicone bronze bolts holding it together and a glass top. The rim has been brushed to remove rust, leaving a lustrous, pitted texture.

Dimensions: 73cm in diameter x 39cm high.
