On Love, Joy, and Sorrow
An Exploration for Print II
For the past 6 years or so I've had a fascination with these two portraits. I don't see much deep significance or lasting impact in either of them, they just rubbed me the right way.The first of Twiggy and the second of PeeWee Herman. I knew I wanted to incorporate these two images in a project for my Intermediate Serigraphy final show. The background shapes in these two prints, the fragmented lines with the organic drops, were used in a previous design problem and while sketching for this project, I really liked how the organic shapes complimented the various facial features on the two portraits. I had been reading a lot of books about pop art which is where the heavy saturated colors and halftones come from. They're really simple prints, it's a really simple project, but I'm proud to display them.
