  • As we go through the motions of everyday life, our body becomes a site for our emotional responses- an exterior stage for our innermost feelings. The way we style ourselves says a lot about who we are, but so does our somatic language; how we walk/sit/stand, where we allow our arms to linger while we are alone. I am interested in establishing a visual and interactive dialogue with how we situate our bodies in the world.

This exploration takes place through writing, mapping, and diagrams, and results in the creation of objects. I then ponder the relationship between these objects and our bodies, bringing me back to the beginning of the cycle. They are for the body because they are of the body. Awkwardly comfortable, borderline sentimental- they suggest a past utility or purpose. A document of something unknown, but reminiscent, they make both complete and no sense.
