Shadows exist because something interfered with a path of light. Walk outside on a sunny day or flip on a light and shadows will be attached to everything. They are such a common occurrence that shadows are frequently overlooked, lost in color, or hiding in their surroundings. People often forget to stop and admire their performance. Shadows have potential to be more interesting and beautiful then what’s making them. A tree can’t slowly slide down the sidewalk or creep around walls, but its shadow will take on any surface or texture. I studied their diverse beauty and watched them move. I looked behind and around what I thought was ordinary to discover the shadows potential and to share their performance.
