Colored pencil artwork inspired by wood carvings of Mexico - This is a collection of colored pencil paintings inspired by the phenomenal wood carvings of Oaxaca, Mexico.
I use Prismacolor colored pencils and a stylus for textures, and an X-Acto knife for minor corrections and carved patterns.
Oaxacan Turtle The experimental first piece in the Oaxacan Animals series.
Oaxacan Big CatThe second piece in the series; it set the standard for future pieces.
Oaxacan HummingbirdThe third piece in the series and the first to include Rapidograph line art.
Oaxacan Bearded DragonInspired by my pet bearded dragon, the fourth piece was also inked with Rapidograph technical pens.
Oaxacan HorseBased off of a Clydesdale, the fifth piece features one of my favorite color schemes.
Oaxacan OctopusThe sixth Oaxacan Animal was suggested by my cousin.
Oaxacan Hummingbird HoundThe seventh piece and one of my favorites; the hummingbird hound is a beloved personal creation.
Oaxacan Tree FrogThis eighth piece was inspired by many different tree frog species, namely the red-eyed tree frog.
