Oakhurst Neighborhood Branding

Over the past decade of Oakhurst’s changes, it’s roots never cease to be a little more twisted than others.

Located on the far westside of Decatur and bordering East Atlanta, Oakhurst is a hidden gem full of life and vitality. “There are no rules here, anything goes,” Christi, the owner of Taj Mahal Dog Bakery describes the feel of the neighborhood. Everyone knows everyone and there is a liberal mindset that exceeds far above any other neighborhoods of Atlanta’s district. The radical thinking and self expression is most prevalent here where rainbow colored dog biscuits and homemade art are just a few things you might find while you’re visiting Harmony Square. With the idea of taking something that is old and making it new and vibrant we established a brand identity that is rooted in the terms Radical Regrowth.

The new system uses pops of bold colors that reflects Oakhurst’s spirit while keeping a homemade feel as well to not forget where the neighborhood came from. The logo is hand done type with the strong contrast of oak rings around it symbolizing all the decades of change and growth that it has been through. Flipside Festival is the fresh idea to start bringing people together and creating a more sustainable community by upcycling furniture, clothes, and other items. With this new sense of identity, Oakhurst is putting down roots left of center.
