OWT creative is a Manchester based design collective made up of Jon Hannan, Sarah Stapleton, Ste Beed, Kat Currie and Ben Kither. After completing our studies at Manchester Metropolitan University the five of us decided to start up a new design collective, based in our adopted home. Having come from different backgrounds in different corners of the UK we have now settled together to form a collective, championing the work of young arts talent in the Northwest. Our main project is the production of monthly zines focused around a theme personal to us or relative to events at the time and featuring not only our own work but work of up and coming arts talent. A common problem faced by young designers is getting your work into the public eye. We hope to help in many ways, firstly by inviting people to contribute to the magazine and secondly with the curation of exhibitions to be held quarterly, tackling varying issues generated from our zines. Alongside our magazines and exhibitions will be T-shirts, prints and assorted items produced by members of the collective and contributors we meet along the way.
Here are some sample spreads from OWT issue #4. The issue shows the five members as well as twelve other contributor's interpretations of the word Direction. Produced in a limited run, each 56 page zine has a hand-screened cover and several hand-screened inner spreads. The zine is numbered in its run of 125.
