Reading is an ideal practice to the universalization of mind. It is necessary as to the theoric development as to recognize the author's world. For that, design appears as the great methodology to create an impact and make people desire to read a determined book.
Projecto Ler'11 was an academic Project which aimed the reshaping of the image of one of the proposed books, from which I decided to work the classic Heart of Darkness(portuguese: O Coração das Trevas), written by Joseph Conrad. A book that inspired Francis Ford Coppola to create the film Apocalipse Now.
The main goal was to create a visual language which was fully related to the story, and at the same time it had to raise the reader interest, who while reading can recognize the atmosphere by looking to its cover.
I used the geographic image of Africa with a pattern that converged to Congo, conjugated with smoke and fog, constant elements at Heart of Darkness.
