Thesis project by Mercedes Arocena and Lucia Benitez (Centro de Diseño Industrial, Montevideo, Uruguay, 2010)

  • This collection started as an investigation on the generation of multiple shapes over the body. It was when we started studying the first forms of dressing, that we realized how first civilizations built all their clothes out of rectangles and squares. This was the aspect that triggerd of the developement of this collection. We found out that the origami investigated "shape " made out of basic geometrical figures as well, but using paper as main element. Our collection uses origami aspects such as folding, creasing and building structures out of modules as well as using only squares and rectangles as patterns.
