Oscar Niemeyer is Brazil's most prolific architect, and his iconic buildings have shaped the nation's capital. Brasilia is a modernist paradise and seems to be frozen in time, circa 1960. No where else in the world has one man been given so much license to shape a city, and no where else has a city adhered to one man's vision so determinedly. The wonderful geometries of Niemeyer's work are like a playground for an architectural photographer. I found his buildings to be especially powerful at night, when their forms become even more reductive.
