A series of demonstrations and general strikes are taking place across Greece. Due to large financial deficit, government decides to use the Eu- ropean support mechanism. The results were a bailout package offered by the European Union and the International Monetary fund. The strict meas- ures include public sector pay cuts, pension reductions and new taxes. The consequences of these measures are the mass layoffs, the raise of unemployment, reaching the 25,4%, the closure of shops and busi- nesses and serious problems in health and education sectors.The indignation and disappointment lead people to demonstrations and riots.
